My objective at the time was to become a history professor. For the time being, however, I wanted to finish what I had set out to do when enrolling for a degree in history and political science. For a year and a half, I served as a student teacher at a secondary school in Darmstadt. In 1986, I took my second state exam as a secondary school teacher, again passing “with distinction.”
